Tricks to tricking out your bookcase.

June 16, 2016

This post is perfect for our clients who have great taste but just need a little help with those finishing touches. Its easy to feel overwhelmed by those massive built ins. How many trips to Homegoods and Pottery Barn can one person take?

After spending an entire Saturday running from one shop to the next, winding your way through tight store aisles and digging for the perfect embellished inlayed box you arrive home excited to pull it all together and are left feeling defeated by clutter.

Trust me … we feel your pain. Here are some tips to get you back on track!

Try and keep everything consistent - consistent finishes and textures.

Use books that are all similar in size and color - a trick is to purchase less expensive books and paint them with chalk paint.

Try and keep it natural - use organic accessories like corals or crystals.

Plants add pop.

Size does matter. Make sure you are mixing tall and small items together to add balance and symmetry.
