At M. Swabb, we're lucky enough to have sunshine 364 days a year – that one day it rains, we do our taxes and dust the ceiling fans. This means that patios and decks are just another room in the house that get used every day, like a laundry room (do you hate us yet?). And that's exactly how we treat our outdoor spaces – why shouldn't such an important extension of your house get all the same comforts of home?

We at M.Swabb look to a lot of women to give us interior inspiration, ranging from Kelly Wearstler (homegirl can design a lamp!) to Jackie Kennedy, who revamped the entire White House, all while wearing pearls and a Chanel dress. But we need to give props to one woman in particular, the first woman – that's right, I'm talking all about Eve! Did she have a mansion? No. Did she even have a pup tent? Heck no. But the ho...

Okay, please excuse the punny name, we're still warming up! Cinco de Mayo is upon us and since none of know anything about Star Wars or May the 4th be with you, let's start here! As a group of ladies who like to extensively travel and, of course, living in the multicultural place that we do, we always love to take inspiration from other cultures – and the liveliness of Mexico is no exception!

More than just an e...

It's always fun wrapping up a project and scanning through my phone for the original images of the house before the design process began. This project was exciting to us for many reasons. Our clients Maeve and Peter have this electric energy - maybe it comes from there Irish roots? Whatever the case, we were all in.

What really sparked the inspiration behind this project is color ... Maeve and Pet...

Yesterday we said goodbye to our Magic Maker. Alissa joined our team back in early March and quickly won over our hearts. I remember her walking to our front door and dropping off a impressive matte wrapped box that perfectly housed a flash drive with her resume and details. I was impressed by the presentation and initiative to get the job.

We were also impressed with ourselves when she said she had been fo...

It has been a challenge posting to our blog lately because we have been blessed with so many wonderful clients and such fun projects. I am sure this Master Bathroom renovation will demand your attention. We couldn't be more proud of this project!

Our clients the Gailey's, whole heartedly deserve every inch of this luxurious and awe inspiring Master Bathroom. What was once in much need of repair is now the Ryan Gosling...

This post is perfect for our clients who have great taste but just need a little help with those finishing touches. Its easy to feel overwhelmed by those massive built ins. How many trips to Homegoods and Pottery Barn can one person take?

After spending an entire Saturday running from one shop to the next, winding your way through tight store aisles and digging for the perfect embellished inlayed box you arrive...

We recently had the privilege of redesigning what was once a time capsule. We would walk into our S. Park clients bathroom and instantly be transported to the 50's. Now don't get me wrong, we are all for Mid Centurydesign and I know the 2016 color forecast includedpink and teal but something had to give.

Inspired by the Spanish accents of their home, they love authentic finishes, color and fun tile. Our trip to Tierra...

With the 88th Academy Awards taking place this Sunday, we thought it would be fun to look back on all the beautiful set designs from nominated movies going back as far as 1961. If the Academy would let us give out interior design Oscars, the set designers of these four movies would all have a little gold statuette sitting in their (presumably beautiful) homes.

The 34th Academy Awards: Breakfast at Tiffany’s...

The biggest misconception when designing a home is that if you have kids you can't have nice things. I'm here to tell you that that's just plain phooey! Now I'm not saying you should haul out your glass coffee table with the metal pointed corners, but I am asking you (nicely) to step away from the plastic-covered sofa. As my coworker Melinda so wisely said 'if everything's washable, what's the big deal?'.
